Intern Introduction Program:
The internship program will require the participant to
commit to approximately 30-40 hours per week for at least 12 weeks, or the
recommended time set forth by their college/university.
This program will consist of a 4-8 week observation and
learning period for the intern.
Since we use various systems of training, it is vital that the intern be
acquainted with these methods. As
the intern progresses and becomes more confident, he/she will be asked to take
one-on-one tests, conducted by the J.M.P.T. staff, to ensure that proper
knowledge and skills are learned.
Once approved, the intern may be asked to start training clients under
supervision, and eventually solo.
The Program:
While with Synergy, the intern will become familiar with
various methods of training and programming. Monitoring the Synergy facility and
assisting the full time staff in instrumental aspects of training and coaching
will be necessary. Observation of
both personal training and sports performance departments will be a
stepping-stone to a more advanced level.
As the intern becomes more confident, he/she will be able to train with
a fitness consultant for one-on-one training, or train with a performance
specialist for athletic performance enhancement. These two avenues will add an in-depth
educational experience.
One-on-one Training will allow the intern to experience
the most well known form of training in the fitness industry. Interns will be given the opportunity to
train individuals or small groups of people whom have specific goals that they
want to personally attain. This may
range anywhere from post-rehab/pre-hab to specified
training. As fitness professionals,
interns will be asked to apply their knowledge with a client. Interns will do everything from a
fitness assessment (functional movement screening, girth measurements, body
composition, etc.) to creating a program specific to the client’s needs
and goals.
Personal training is an expanding field with many different
methods for training. It is
encouraged that interns try to develop their own methods as they continue to
mature in the field.
Athletic Performance
Enhancement will allow interns to be involved in the world of sports performance and
how professional, collegiate, and junior level athletes improve and excel
beyond their current capabilities.
From speed and agility to power and strength, interns will learn proper form,
technique, and coaching skills necessary to correctly train athletes. Conditioning programs for athletes are
usually more intense and require the greatest in training capabilities. This may be considered a more
specialized field than non-athlete training, and requires a greater commitment
to learning from the intern. As in
one-on-one training, it is our goal to have the intern become part of the
coaching staff and apply proper knowledge and skills with the athletes.
All of our interns will be treated as employees and we will
expect nothing below employee standards from the interns. As prospective employees of Synergy
Fitness and Sports and its subsidiary companies, it is to the interns favor to
act professionally during the internship.
Although this is a non-paid
internship, interns may have the opportunity to train solo and therefore be
paid. To be considered, a CPR certification is required. Compensation
will be based upon experience and application of knowledge. Interns will be provided with some
athletic apparel during the internship.
